Oooh, I'm really curious as to how you did the fur texture, if you don't mind divulging!

Gosh I wouldn't mind at all, Keovi! I feel very honored that you're curious! *big grin*

Well, actually the majority of the fur texturing was done during the marker process. The paper itself was COMPLETELY white when I started... So.. when I said many a marker died in the making, 'tis very true! I have no idea how many colors I used.

Copic markers (brush tip) and Prismacolor markers (small tip) were used to create the fur brush strokes. I layer lighter colors on top of darker color markers, and it actually lightens up the marker to a small degree, a bit like watercolors?

So, by the time all of the marker colors were laid down, I used a very small amount of colored pencil (Prismacolor brand) to highlight the fur textures that were already there, to give the figure that extra 'pop', you know? I don't like to use a lot of colored pencil, because it looks really waxy.. So I keep the colored pencil usage to a minimum.

That's about it. The time-consuming part was the actual marker coloring. XD Hope that explained it okay! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'd be happy to answer anything. ^^

I also thought it was digital. The colors are just delicious, I am partial to the rich rustiness of the right side. It must look smashing in person. Well done!

We shall all mourn their passing, but will somehow move on with our lives.

What a masterful handling of color! I didn't even notice the fur texture until someone pointed it out, because it flows so well and looks so natural to the picture. I just love what you did with the orangish side of the background especially. The texture is just too great.

I think it was worth the dead markers, and I like the painterly look they give to this.
